Spent Thursday – Monday in Singapore last week, hanging out with my sister, shopping, wining and dining, watching dvds in hangover-recovery and generally having a relaxing time away from the office. Singapore is such a pleasurable place to visit for a short time – everything is clean and organised and the food is fantastic. I adore a good noodle soup – whether it is chinese, thai, malaysian, cantonese, vietnamese or whatever, I’m a noodle soup addict.. especially seafood. So got in my share of soup and dimsums and fried rice and chicken rice and everything in between.
The Singapore Sale is on at the moment, which means up to 70% percent discount at most shops around Singapore. One of the favourite places is the second floor of Tangs in the shoe department.. here you can find gorgeous Italian $300 heels for $89.95! I went looking for some sensible flat work shoes and of course came out with some high strappy gold heels instead… as you do. We also went a little electronics crazy, firtsly getting a fantastic expresso coffee maker as a wedding present from Sis and partner; and then buying a dustbuster, a car waxer, a portable phone for the house, a digital camera (to replace the oneI lost at Christmas.. oops) and an electric shaver for K. The customs man did give me some suspicious looks on arrival in Mumbai but we managed to get through without having to pay any customs tax, luckily.
R, Sis’s partner, showed me some gorgeous prints he’d found online at art.com, by A. Geringer. I would love to get a few of these and think they would be great in a young kids room. For me they really invoke that kind of bedtime story feeling. I love the mythology of hinduism and hope to one day soon find a way to read the Mahabharata and Ramayana. I have a pathetic concentration level though so if anyone knows some easy-read versions then please let me know!
So now I’m back home, and it is freakin’ hot here. When we landed at the airport at 1am Tuesday it was 32degrees! At 1am! Last night we had all the windows slide right open and all the fans on full and we were still sweating. Thank god for aircon in the bedroom. Fingers are tightly crossed for rain this weekend.
