so I am home, luxuriating in sleeping in my own bed in hot humid smelly old’ Mumbai.. have had only about 4 or 5 days at home in the last month so it’s a real treat. Also, k and his mum are away for the week so not only am I home, but I’m home alone, which is even better! I can wander round the house in my underwear drinking red wine and listening to Gnarls Barkely, eating only cheese and crackers and olives for dinner… bliss!
Apart from aforementioned bad dieting habits, I am now on the weightloss highway and am getting up for runs in the morning and going for swims in the evenings.. (well so far for 2 days, but its a good start). I am also tackling Ideas for A New Business and Book Reading as opposed to Crap TV in the evenings, so that feels very good and positive.
Visited Chor Bazaar on our day off yesterday. I have been meaning to go here for at least 2 years now and finally finally made it. Probably not a good idea to go when it’s 36deg and 75% humidity but at least I went. Chor Bazaar (or Thieves Market) is an area of Muhammed Ali rd where you can find anything second hand – especially lots of antiques, car parts, furniture, street signs, and old hindipop LPs. What a wealth of beautiful old furniture – especially beautiful old wooden chairs that just need a nice re upholstering of the seat.. I didn’t ask the price and since I’m obviously a foreigner I’d say that any price I am given is around triple the real price, so i’d have to send K in to make any purchases.
On my day off (Maharashtra Day, not May Day here) I also managed to take 3 naps, buy new jewelry and gossip on the phone for 2 hours.. so really a very productive day in all, and a perfect way to spend a jetlagged public holiday home alone.
